The Gothenburg cathedral, as it’s known today, was built in the 19th century in the place of the previous cathedral that was destroyed by fire. The remnants and some authentic walls make part of the modern cathedral. It features different architectural styles, but is mostly constructed in a classical one. This is a lively area, so it is often advised to stay in hotels near Gothenburg Cathedral. Besides numerous cafes and shops situated nearby, you’ll be in proximity to Gothenburg’s canals, Stora Hamnkanalen, and public transport. Even though Gothenburg is the second-largest city in Sweden, it’s quite compact and easy to explore. The best option to go around the town will be to rent a bicycle.
